Christianah Olatunji (Oh-la-tune-gee) has over 25 years of experience in human services. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology specializing in human services.
She is a Certified Social Worker, and she is a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) certified to provide support to people with developmental disabilities in Illinois.

New Era Support Services Inc.

In 2010, Christianah established her own business, New Era Support Services Inc.
Her plan was to create an organization that could provide high quality cost-effective services to her fellow citizens in DeKalb, Kane, Kendall, and Will Counties in Northern Illinois. The principal purpose of her company is to provide reliable, responsive and compassionate in-home non-medical care to the community where she lives.

Continued Growth in Clients and Caregivers

In about three years, Christianah has expanded the business to serve a wide range of private clients and agency-sponsored clients in four counties in north central Illinois. New Era Support Services is a provider of services to Illinois Departments of Human Services.

    Christianah's Career

    Christianah started her career at Accessible Space in Minneapolis where she was a personal assistant. Her primary duties involved tending to people with brain injuries and assisting them with daily living activities in order to facilitate their re-integration into the community.

    In Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Christianah worked for Community Industries, Inc. There she helped people with developmental disabilities find and hold onto jobs within the community. Her duties included both training and employment responsibilities. In addition, she supported numerous clients both on-the-job and off-the-job. This support included carefully-planned career counseling and social integration. Christianah developed a successful track record for placing many clients in jobs that effectively matched their specific abilities. In addition, she assisted her clients to become integrated into their local communities.

    As a certified social worker with Community Care of Portage County Wisconsin, Christianah provided long-term service coordination and counseling to over 30 clients at a time. She was responsible for conducting comprehensive needs assessments and developing individualized service plans. Her other duties entailed on-going supervision of service delivery staff as well as evaluating the effectiveness of a wide range of services.

    In 2007, Christianah moved to Illinois and continued her career in human services as case manager with Aurora Township. She started by supervising young adults enrolled in programs offered by Aurora Township Youth Services. Later, Christianah was hired by Senior Services Associates, Inc. where she worked as a care coordinator assessing service needs for senior citizens so they could stay in their homes. Her responsibilities at Senior Services Associates included working with providers from the community to secure an array of services for senior citizens. At the same time, she routinely monitored the effectiveness of those services.
